If you're not familiar with the Raffi song "Mama's taking us to the Zoo tomorrow" the title of this post might escape you, but that's what Andrew, Terry and I did today for our excellant adventure. Instead of everyday during our summer break we are pacing ourselves with our excellent adventures and going every other day. Monday it was the aquarium and Wednesday was the zoo. It has been over 15 years since I had last visited the Sacramento Zoo. It was so much fun. It is a great zoo especially if you're pushing a stroller ... it's all on even ground, no hills like Oakland. There is the heat factor but it is a very shady zoo, moderately priced with free parking. The weather does climb in Sacramento, even with the mild days we've been having. But we went early and, even though it got to 90 degrees there were so many trees to make it comfortable. The zoo sits in William Land Park which has very easy access from I5. The park is beautiful and it had me wishing I had packed a full on picnic. Directly across the street from the zoo is Fairytale Land which is a delightful place for the 3 year old to 7 year old age group, making it perfect for Terry. Andrew couldn't do that much there but he loved looking at everything. You can buy one ticket for both the zoo and the playland. The zoo's website is http://www.saczoo.com/ .
After our day of adventure we came home and went out for a pizza dinner with Tommy, Matt and Heather. We polished off our dinner with gelato (I had pistachio!). It was a great day.
